Poetry: “Work”

A little bit of pessimism about our society here in the west…

Contribute to society
Be a cog in this great wheel
That keeps on moving onward
To the future we have made

Do not be a slacker
To be good, you must work hard
The work itself might not be fun
But it’s what you’ve been assigned

Though you might be on the bottom
With some others above you
It only means they worked far more
And they climbed up to that perch

So if you want to progress
In this great society
Just keep on working, with your all
Though your body might break down
