Poetry: “Shifting seasons”

Some musing on the seasons and how we deal with them, now that we are fully shifting towards fall.

Shifting seasons

As temperatures begin to drop
And summer fades away
Us humans, much like animals
We go through such a change

Like caterpillars, larvae
We spin our own cocoons
We dig inside our closets
For warmers things to wear

We wrap ourselves in cotton
In wooly knitted wear
Layer upon layer
As the winter conquers fall

Bundled up in muted hues
We trundle through the months
Until the season shifts again
And the temperatures climb

Then quite like gallant butterflies
We shed our own cocoons
And show so proudly to the world
Far more colorful attire
