Poetry: “Spices”

Something with a culinary theme again.

A sprig of rosemary
To release its fragrant oils
And flavor

A bunch of mint leaves
Chopped up
Adds a touch of freshness
Makes a soothing cup of tea

A bundle of oregano
Cut up
To drift elegantly
Into a simmering tomato sauce

A clove of garlic
Finely chopped
Dropped into a pan
With sizzling butter

A fiery red pepper
Seeds carefully extracted
Joining tomatoes and onion
A flavorful potion

It’s alchemy, it’s artistry
To pick among the greens
Picked from branches or from jars
Create flavor harmony
