Poetry: “August thoughts”

What it says on the box. 🙂

August thoughts

Bring me balmy August days
So much sweeter than in June
A summer that keeps lingering
That is just what I want

In August all the kids are gone
They are huddled up in school
So when I take a week off work
I get the beach all to myself

In August nights are darker
But with warmth still hanging on
I light candles to see by
Out on the balcony

I long for these warm August days
When it’s really not so hot
Just warm enough to stay outside
Such slow progress into fall
