Poetry: “White whale”

Yes, I like the book Moby-Dick, so when a white whale pops up in the news… (Even if it wasn’t a sperm whale.)

White whale

A white whale has been spotted
Off Australia’s Gold Coast
Fin a white sail rising up
Between foamy, sudsy waves

No Moby Dick this whale was
This one, he wore a hump
Though when his flukes go rising up
They are just as pearly white

Where is this white whale’s Ahab?
With his fervent, boiling mind
Or will this one be left alone
And keep swimming calmly on

Where is this white ghost’s Pequod?
That might follow him around
Or will there just be vessels
Full of cheering researchers
