Poetry: “Smartphone”

Some silly commentary on a staple of our modern society…

If our phones are smart

Then why can’t they say

That we should look up

Just once in a while

To view our surroundings

And the people we see

If we just turn off

Our phones for a bit

We’re missing so much

If we just stare down

At bright lit up screens

With text that scrolls down

Missing the moments

The things that occur

Wildlife and babies

And life going on

So now I must protest

That we call them thus

They steal our attention

And suck our lives out
