Poetry: “Underground”

Something simple and humble.

Darkened tunnels

Stretching out

Trains like worms

They race along

Bright lights shining

For a while

Then zooms on

The dark returns

Hiss and steam

It is a part

Of the trains

And their long march

Trundling through them

Tunnels long

Open doors

Let people out

Out from tunnels

They emerge

Slowly blinking

At the light

Up from bowels

Of the earth

Man climb up

Onto the streets
