Poetry: “To the sea”

Even more personal this one, filled with old memories.

To the sea

Take me out now to the sea

To my childhood’s pebbly shore

To crooked pines and mossy rocks

And the seagulls lonesome cries

Take me to those lapping waves

To the cliffs all bleached by sun

Where serpents laze about in cracks

And reeds wave in the breeze

Take me to those murky woods

Where the scent is warm and strong

Where roe deer and the foxes play

And where birds sing out their lives

Take me to the wooden pier

Where the tiny fishes swim

Where the sea is nice and calm

And safe for you to swim

Take me to the seashore then

Take me to the sea

Where all my childhood memories

Float away upon the waves
