Poetry: “Forgetful season”

Something to remind us of the not so distant past…

Forgetful season

Forget not when the spring sun shines

How the cold wind used to howl

Withering both grass and leaf

And silencing the birds

Forget not when the flowers bloom

How the snow covered the field

Wrapping all the world in white

And thus muffling every sound

Forget not when the songbirds sing

How the roads would turn so slick

That every step would be a risk

For both human and for beast

Forget not when the warmth is back

How the chill would bruise your skin

Finding all the exposed bits

That both scarf and hat had missed
