Poetry: “Tubes”

A little deep, a little gloomy, perhaps.

Life is a series of tubes

Ever going downward

Flushing waste into the ground

Occasionally an upturn

But then gravity reclaims

All that it has owed to it

Sometimes forward momentum

With an optimistic bend

But then the flow grows sluggish

With the slog of endless days

Now and then obstruction

That can keep you for some time

The sweet release that follows

Makes you forget where you go

And eternally

Flowing downward

Until you reach the stagnant pool where all things go

In the end
