Poetry: “The wealth gap”

Another bit of social commentary from me.

The wealth gap

The rich man to the poor man said,

Be careful how you spend,

Don’t waste your precious money,

On some silly thing

And even though I have a car,

That I just bought last week.

That does not mean that you should too,

Go get some brand new wheels

Be mindful of your older years,

When it’s time to leave your job.

If your pension’s not enough,

Why I guess you’ll work some more

And do not think that trips abroad,

Is a thing for everyone

Though I can afford them each year,

Does not mean you should too

Yes, listen close, the rich man said,

You should know your lot in life.

You’ll never have as much as me,

So there’s no use if you try
