Poetry: “Seeking sunlight”

I don’t think you  have to live as far north as I do to understand what I am getting at with this.

Seeking sunlight

Months of darkness

Ending soon

Winter slowly bids adieu

All the people

Coming forth

Blinking shyly at the sun

Hardly know it

Golden warmth

Much like lizards they are drawn

Finds a warm spot

Sunlight bright

Raise their faces to that light

Such a sight

Such a display

While sun starved humans drink their fill
