Poetry: “Endings/Beginnings”

Guess there will always be things to write about the nature of life and such.

For some new thing to be born

Some other thing must die

For matter is not infinite

Some recycling must occur

It is most clear in autumn

When the leaves wither and die

The dead organic matter

Is made back into fine soil

And then when winter’s passed away

When the sun is warm and strong

The blackened soil will magically

Be full of new green shoots

It is a bitter comfort

When we lose someone we love

That from those ashes things will grow

And some new life will be born
