Poetry: “Hallway flower”

Another one of those poems where I dip below the surface of things, for…reasons.

Hallway flower

Placed there on the windowsill

Outside in the hall

Waits a stunted flower

For when the warmth returns

Waits for when the day will come

When it will see sun again

Be placed outside and taste the air

Let the wind ruffle its leaves

We all are like this flower

When the seasons turn for sure

When winter winds are gone at last

And we taste the wondrous spring
