Poetry: “Coffee institution”

Lets muse a bit on my culture, yes?

Coffee institution

If you visit the far north

Up here where the reindeer live

You will find that we hold dear

The coffee hours that we have

“Fika” is a queer old term

Used to label all those times

When we meet in our cafes

Or where coffee can be brewed

Chatter happens, that’s for sure

And we talk about our jobs

Sipping coffee, straight and black

Lattes are for silly folks

At our workplace it is dear

And those who try to steal that time

All are forced to all back down

For the fika’s holy time

So if you wish to move up here

Be prepared for fika breaks

Dip your buns in coffee cups

And see that we are social too
