Poetry: “Playful words”

Another poem about words and writing in a way.

Playful words

Words that twist both here and there

Changing shapes

And turning ’round

Place them there and, oh behold

This one meaning

Has been changed

Like a meadow full of mice

Words can scurry

Then fall upon pages there

In a pattern

Like a game

They’ve evolved over the years

From plain pictures

Etched in clay

All this time has made them bold

So much meaning

In their forms

Helping us from day to day

How to speak

And today it is quite clear

That we need them all

Our playful words
