Poetry: “To fly”

Pretty straightforward a topic, yes.

To fly

High above the rooftops

A bird is soaring high

Imagine then to be that bird

To gaze down upon the world

How small and insignificant

We all must seem to him

Who can see so far and wide

While we all just plod along

It would be grand to be like him

To rise above the world

And leave our burdens far behind

As the current picks us up

Perhaps some wondrous peace of mind

Would be found among the clouds

As the breeze tickles our wings

Every time we let them beat

Though that thought might seem grand to me

To be carried so high up

The truth is that acrophobia

Might force me down to the ground
