Poetry: “Tired”

New month and a new poem, this one carrying a feeling I think most of us are familiar with.

Weariness descending

Deep into your bones

Like an anvil has been hung

Right around your throat

Mind is growing sluggish

Thoughts they seem like lead

Much too heavy to keep up

It’s best to let them drop

Feet are moving slowly

Like traversing through deep mud

Head is focused on the goal

When you finally are home

Bed, it seems to call you

As you gently close your door

But sleep must wait a little more

There are still some things to do

Only when all tasks are done

All the chores have been complete

Only then you have your just reward

And hopefully a peaceful sleep
