Poetry: “Blood ties”

A little poem about blood and family.

Blood ties

Blood is thicker than water

A stain upon your breast

Try and try to scrub it out

It will never go away

Oh how it sometimes dribbles

Making such an awful mess

You cannot make it go away

No, those blood stains are for life

So like that blood your family

They are with you ’til you die

While friendship bonds are water

They can dry up in the sun

Though with some time some friendships

Can be dyed a color too

That might stick there on your clothing too

And remain after they’re washed

The difference is quite clear to me

Friendship stains are made by choice

And the bloody bonds of family

They are there because you’re born
