Poetry: “Structure”

This is actually the poem that inspired the essay I published a few days ago. Self inspiration, woo.

Built up your life

Girders in place

A sturdy structure

That keeps you in place

Solemnly swearing

That you’ll be fine

As long as foundations

Will remain sound

Prop up the walls then

The everyday things

All of the items

On your to do list

And when the rooms are

Completely in place

That’s when your fill them

With all that you love

All of those things that

Entertain you

All those activities

That fulfill you

But if there’s an earthquake

Some terrible shock

That crack your foundations

Well the rest tumbles down

So though they might bore you

And stress you sometimes

Those boring old structures

They’re vital for you
