Poetry: “The winter crow”

I am pretty sure I have already mentioned my love of corvids…

The winter crow

A crow is sitting in the tree

Basking in the sun’s pale glow

Does he know snow’s on its way

Wrapped up in those clouds so grey?

They will pelt him with harsh winds

Force him to wrap up with air

Make his feathers warm and snug

To survive the winter’s bite

Please dear crow, be careful now

Don’t sit up so very high

Find some warmer place below

Where the snow can hurt you less
