Poetry: “Plane ride”

I have a complicated relationship with flying and planes…

Plane ride

Noisy teeming crowd all crammed together

Stuffed inside a metal tube

Impossibly flying

Soaring through the air

Weary people screaming babies men that talk too loudly

All of then coexisting

Forced to occupy the same space

Same row of seats

Stretching out

Across a pair of wings

All desiring one thing

Speedy transport

To be far away from their origin as possible

Without sending an extra vacation day

The only losers

Our environment

And our sanity
