Poetry: “Familiar face”

A poem about ~unexpectedly seeing someone from your past after many, many years have passed.

Familiar face

There on glossy pages

Those eyes you’ve seen before

Dark depths so familiar

Seen there right across the room

Once upon a time they

Could be seen most every day

With them you shared a classroom

With their owner you conversed

But time it is a river

That is very long and wide

It cuts across the plains of life

And divides you here and there

Some people you are glad to leave

And some perhaps you miss

And then there are those that you spot

Quite by accident one day

A pair of eyes you’ve seen before

So many years ago

Living a life so alien

That you think that you saw wrong.
