Poetry: “Anticipation”

And more holiday stuff.

Anticipating Christmas

It is not quite the same

As it was when I was

Just a little lass

Yet this frozen holiday

It does hold some allure

That has a way of pulling me

Of pulling me right in

It is the scent of spices

Saffron and cinnamon

Of ginger cookies, citrus fruit

And mulled wine warm and good

So I find myself waiting

For the snowflakes to fall down

To make the outside white and bright

And the inside warm and snug
