Poetry: “Black high heels”

Sometimes it is the seemingly tiny random things you encounter that inspire you.

Black high heels

High heels

Left out on the stairs

Forgotten by their owner

The leather pocked and scarred

Marks that tell a story

Of great festivities

But now the party’s over

The lights are all turned off

Oh those poor black high heels

Left out there on the stairs

Remind me about our lives

The fun they can contain

So much fun

While it lasts

But the end is all the same
