Poetry: “On Malala”

I am one of those who have been charmed by this amazing young woman and her cause, so I wanted to channel some of my feelings into poetry.

On Malala

This brave young girl from Pakistan

She let her voice be heard

Spoke out against suppression

Said education is for all

The Taliban were moving in

But she was not afraid

Not even when a man appeared

And shot her in the head

Her life was hanging by a thread

But she would not give up

Was taken off to safety

At a hospital in the UK

Her pain was used to fuel her

She spoke much louder now

Speaking out for all of those

Who did not have a voice

Now she is known in all the lands

She’ll share a Nobel Prize

And thanks to here, yes hopefully

All earth’s kids will go to school.
