Poetry: “Shared misery”

It feels appropriate to put this up on a Monday.

Shared misery

The thing about a dreary day

When rain keeps pouring down

Is that it is something we share

With each and everyone

We all must fetch umbrellas

Unless we plumb forgot

And we must wear a warmer coat

To shield us from the wind

We all must avoid puddles

And pray cars won’t splash us so

And beg the bus will not be late

To leave us exposed for too long

We all must warm our frozen hands

And make a dash for warmth and light

And pour a cup of something warm

To try and slowly thaw

Yes the thing about a dreary day,

Is that it’s shared by all

So recall that when you feel down,

That we can all share your pain
