Poetry: “The cardinal”

The bird, not the church official.

***~***~***~***

The cardinal

Red bird there

In the tree

Feathers glowing beautifully

How and why

Are you there

Colors blazing ‘gainst the green

So much red

Wasted there

All the gods must hold you dear

Please don’t go

We just met

Do not rob me of your reds

Sweetest bird

Blazing red

Oh, I hope we’ll meet again
