Poetry: “Fall”

The season is full upon us at this point, so this feels appropriate to post.

Fall is

The carpet laid down in the entrance

To wipe off our wet and muddy shoes

Fall is

That slow shift from green to red, gold and fiery orange

The trees putting on their autumn coats

Fall is

Walks through the forest, looking for mushrooms and berries

Your nose filled with the scent of wet leaves and damp wood

Fall is

Rain that drizzles down one second, comes down in sheets the next

Umbrella turned inside out, from sudden gusts of wind

Fall is

Large mugs of hot chocolate, crowned with a dollop of whipped cream

Warming your hands, watching the rain fall outside

Fall is

The scent of apple pie, cinnamon and pumpkin spice

Warm oven letting out gusts of fragrant steam, filling the entire house

Fall is

Hot baths, overflowing with bubbles

Warming up your shivering body after a long, hard day

Fall is

Cuddled up under a pile of blankets as the night frost descends outside

Lit candles in front of you and a warm cat in your lap
