Poetry: “First breath of fall”

Another seasonal poem, as October, a true fall month, approaches fast.

First breath of fall

Feel it

Stinging breeze

See your breath

Mist in the air

Sun it feebly

Shines at you

Just as tired as you are

Watch the trees

Behold their leaves

Hint of color in the green

Like a woman

Going grey

Fall is there

Her presence felt

Drip drip drip

The sky is grey

Raindrops cold

They wet your skin

No longer

That balmy rain

That the summer used to give

Hide inside now

Shut your door

And enjoy those side effects

Of the season

That’s near here

Spice and pumpkin

Apple pie

Autumns harvest

Oh so rich

Filling up our cups and plates

Take it in

Enjoy the taste

And all the color ere it fades
