Poetry: “Pride”

It’s the last day of Pride here, so I wrote up a little something for the occasion.

It’s Pride again, so let’s rejoice,

Show them all that we’re not scared

We are proud of who we are,

As God intended, some might say.

All the letters gather round,

Gay, lesbian, trans and queer.

Marching with our rainbow flag,

Fighting for all those oppressed.

We are one big family,

Of those who do not quit fit in.

Into the heteronormative,

Of how to act and who to love.

Though we are freer than we were,

To marry, work and raise our kids.

We can’t forget the other lands,

Where gays can still be jailed and killed.

So march with us if you all care,

About human equality.

It’s Pride again so let’s rejoice,

We’re walking here, as is our right.
