Poetry: “Failure”

A personal poem, a little experimental.

I do not do failure well

There is something inside me

Which refuses

    Give up

My day may be awful

But somehow

I still

Against all odds

In school I was the book worm

Homework was my thing

And if I should not get my As

    Into Despair

To get a B was a disaster

To fail my driver’s test

To not get that one job

It made me feel so very low

The lowest

  Of the

Barely getting out of bed

I am Stannis Baratheon

With iron in my soul

Even when things feel awful

I break before I bend

So afraid of failure

That I refuse to bend

   Even a little

      That little

Which might make me less upset
