Poetry: “Holiday Delights”

The holidays are almost upon us now, I’ll be heading off to family today for the celebrations, so have a bit of fuzzy-warm poetry appropriate for the occasion.

Holiday Delights

Scent of spices in the air,

Hover like a fragrant cloud,

Bring to mind years long ago,

Mem’ries of such happy times.

Cinnamon and ginger too,

All are stirred up in a bowl.

Their dust floats up there in the room,

Rolled up in that pastry dough.

Orange zest and cardamom,

Star anise, if you’re inclined.

Vanilla bean and all things good,

Essential for the things we make.

To make cakes and cookies too,

Get the right ingredients.

That thing with Christmas I adore,

Are all those good things you can make.
