Poetry: “Color suite: Red”

Today I begin posting a series of poems based around a common theme. I hope you check back every day for each new installment. 🙂

Color suite: Red

Red is a fire burning bright

It’s the lifeblood in our veins

It speaks of passion in the night

And of love that lasts a life

Red is the color that flashes

Before the eyes of truly enraged

In nature red can mean caution,

That something is toxic to eat

Red is something to warm you

When the outside in cold and grim

In our most festive of seasons,

It’s the red that brings the most cheer

Red is a color that goes back

Many hundreds of years

Of all of humanity’s colors

It was beloved of our ancestors too
