Poetry: “Curious Words”

This is what happens when you ponder idioms, common sayings and phrases too much.

Curious Words

The loyalty of dogs are known

Just like black cats are devil’s kin

A fox is clever, pigs are foul

Wolves they can don sheep’s clothing

Such different sayings that we have

Born from some idle observation

Yet how much truth lies in them

Can we trust that first observer?

What is that makes sayings stick?

And certain ideas turned into truth

In some cases lies are made

And propagated in our modern times

When you find an idiom,

Some wise saying or what not

Something that seems so much like truth

Take it with a hefty pinch of salt
