Poetry: “Mother Sea”

To tie into my very green essay yesterday, have a poem on a similar theme.

***~***~***~***

Mother Sea

All life on this planet

We hail from the seas

From the day our ancestors

First crawled from the foam

We all have this in common

That we swim before we’re born

Rocked inside a salty sea

Like the salt of our tears

We might sometimes fear it

The waters deep and dark

But we are still drawn to it

Because of that ancient bond

We need water to survive

We acquire food from it

And many are the species

That lives under the waves

Therefore we should be careful

Of our ancestral home

And treat those who still live there

As our ancient cousins

Save our seas is not a choice

They are a vital thing

And our planet could not live long,

If the seas all die.
